Too Green by Far Sri Lanka’s economy is on its knees. There is a severe shortage of food and fuel across the nation, and this weekend, a curfew was imposed to prevent protests against the government. This is a nation whose economic and social development has been streets ahead of the rest of South Asia - in 2019, their per capita GDP was twice ours, and their Human Development Index (HDI) rank is 72, compared to 131 for India.
Sri Lanka is what happens when Politicians don't listen to Economists and Professionals and take decisions based on their inflated ego or political expediency. Sounds familiar?
The Shrilankans will bounce back.
They've something which we don't have: Loose Morality.
Hello Sir,
It was a great piece.Thank you for it.
On the topic of fossil fuels reduction, what do you think about India's target of year 2070 to become a carbon neutral country?
I completely agree with you sir on the last point.
Nuclear Energy is the cleanest and also the safest till date.
But the public hysteria about it is a big roadblock.
India has huge thorium reserves , so india should start building some thorium reactor in place of massive coal mining projects (in my opinion).
Thank you for replying.
