Brilliant concluding paragraph. Perhaps Mr. Modi is trying to explain why 5 to 6 cameramen follow him around. He is the central character in the movie playing in his head.
It's 18 years since the Supreme court judgement and the Model Police Act, but hardly anything has changed. Every police station is supposed to have CCTV, but they conveniently stop working when they are needed. Since the politicians are unlikely to give up their power over the police voluntarily, it is up to the courts to enforce the law. But they themselves need reform. It seems we are far away from achieving "Law and Order" for common citizens.
Indeed - reform is not in the interest of the police.
The Porsche case continues to throw up new highlights - apparently in the Juvenile Justice Court, 3 lakhs was exchanged. Hence the penalty of a 300 word essay.
Very good read
Bull's eye!

Interesting psychographic profiling - the essentiality of camera men!
Thank you for this. Heartbreaking, and right on!
Profoundly moving, Mohit. Prompted me to reflect deeply. Thank you for such a heartfelt and thought-provoking piece.
Thanks, Prashant
Thanks for writing this about Pune incident . A recent phone interaction with some fraudsters who have found impersonating the Indian Police to be highly lucrative made me think about how do we perceive the Police in this country . Wrote about it here : https://open.substack.com/pub/sochvichaar/p/polis-aa-gayi-polis?r=9vt3e&utm_medium=ios&utm_campaign=post
Thanks, Tarun - I look forward to reading this.
