Nice! Like so many things, old age seems to be bittersweet - the steady waning of powers balanced by the clarity of experience and the urgency that comes from the knowledge of our mortality.

I always enjoy reading Gimme Mo. But today it touched this important topic. The question of old age is too much front and center for me, with aging parents, and relatives. I often wonder if it's worth staying around if we are physically or mentally not contributing. Chandragupta Maurya gave up his life by fasting at Sravana Belagola. Was he right?

Nature always recycles. So, it looks like getting old and feeble is not natural. Does it make sense to depend on all kinds of medicines to prolong ones life?

What if i chose to get treated only in case of acute illnesses, and handle all chronic illnesses with no medicine?

Ah, love! Show love, till the end of your days - I like this line. With a lot of humility, we will not have a desire to live endlessly. But we will want to live larger. Like Rajesh Khanna in Anand.
